Winter Warm Up blog hop

There is an awesome crop going on over at CardSwaps this week. Challenges and games will be posted February 8-11, 2012 and you have until February 14, 2012 to get your projects posted to the appropriate thread. If you haven't participated before, don't worry! There are many members and myself that will be around to offer support and encouragement. You can find out all you need to know in the forum. So... AFTER the hop... you will be taken to the crop and I do hope you join in. If you can't wait, go ahead and check it out... but COME BACK. There is a prize on the line for blog hoppers and you don't want to miss out. You will be given details at the bottom of the post. Don't skip ahead!!! Please read my babbling.

The blog hop "theme" goes with the crop title of "Winter Warm Up". We pretty much left the type of project the hostesses of the blog hop created open. We also left sentiment and type and all that "open". The only requirement was that the completed item had to make you smile and bring some warm, fuzzy feelings to the cold, cold Winter months.

If you live in an area where your Winter doesn't get extremely cold.... well...you are in the same boat as me... sooo California doesn't get Snow storms or so but i can get really cold and foggy, and if you get in at work as early as i do, waiting for the bus in the cold is not so much fun.... so a nice cup of coffee, hot chocolate or tea will do the trick, i also have the warmest scarf a gift from mom.

The next thing that make us Californians warm up is the SUN! yep Sunny CA you are able to enjoy an outdoor skate ring and the sunny warming you up, and even hit the beach in winter hehehehe so my inspiration project reflects on that and how some people in your life can turn into your own sun and shine and warm up your life.

So... the game for hoppers... You will be unscrambling a word once you will collect a letter at each blog you visit. The hostesses can play along, because they don't know any of the letters but their own... Once you collect ALL the letters, the last hostess in the blog hop will direct you to the thread in the forum where you can find all the details you need to enter the drawing. All hoppers collecting all the letters, unscrambling the word or phrase, entering the game by following the directions in the forum, and leaving feedback on EVERY blog they visit WILL be entered in to a random drawing held on February 15, 2012. ONE lucky hopper will have their name drawn and will win a prize!! Fun, right?? So, make sure you visit every blog and find the letters. Altered cigar box

Over at the Minialbumscraps site, we are swaping altered cigar boxes with a twist, it Twilight theme, my partner is Team Edward, so i got inspirated by the Meadow, thats why i chosed to do the flowery front.
the box its a 8 1/2 by 8 1/2 and i got it over at Michaels, it came in a light cream color, and i wanted an old distresed look, so with a sponge and SU ink (close to cocoa) and rubed it all over the box, it wasnt as hard as i thought it would be to cover the box, and i was pleased on the end result.

Then i started to place the elements i had chossen but thought that it needed something else, i grabed one of my script stamps and with versamark started to stamt in the box, then cover it with bronce embossing powder and the heat embosse it. and looked like this, i mesed up a couple of times, but you cant really tell unless your really looking for the mistake. a little booboo

Now happy on the background, i started to place the embelishments, and piled them up and and move thing around and this the final look for the front of the box:

and the inside you can see the picture of Edward and Bella in the Medow, and there are some metal placts saying "Always Cherish"

The box will be filled with some more goodies, for my partner and that will be a surprice for her. hope you guys had enjoyed this project as much as i had enoyed making it. and i cant wait to make more!!!

This blog hop has a theme. The theme is: I have been blessed! Because, well, we can all stop and think and count a lot of things we have to be thankful for and many reasons we are blessed.

What i have blessed with??
i have been blessed with a WONDERFUL Mother. God, gifted me with the best mom ever, she is all for me and siblings. She has been a Mother, Father, teacher, doctor, and many things for us, but to me she IS my best friend. so I'm very blessed to have her.
I'm also blessed with crazy, mischievous, loving, siblings. My big brother, tagging along to take care of us, even to a cheesy girly movie. and my little sister, that even far away, she is always in my thoughts, my shopping partner, i miss you sista :D
Also, blessed with friends, that have entered my life and left a mark in my heart, that even if we don't see each other in a long period of time, we just pick up like no time passed at all. with friends around the word , connected via a computer, but that somehow have form a family, ready to help each other, share happy moments as sad ones. so yeah.... I AM BLESSED

I made a card using "E" as in Embossing. i used SU! embossing folder Square Lattice, but i also did heat embossing with the sentiment. hope you like it!!!!

I'm showcasing the color Yellow...it has been such a chalenge for me! not one of my favorite colors, and a had limited paper or embelishments on that color... but i think i made it work :D

For my card i started with Yellow base cardstock, the paper it was found on my scrap pile and i think it worked out, i used a doily to make the kimono pop out, the kimono its a outline sticker i was given a wile back as a RAK and i put it on top of another scrap of paper. the sentiment i had it on a card candy i recieved and the stick pin i made it by using a corsage pin with beads.

We aren't doing prizes on the blog hop today, because the real prize is seeing great ideas and filling your mind with mojo kicking fuel. However, I do hope you leave a comment and let me know what you think. There is also a post in the forum where you can post any cards you make that are blog hop inspired. I do hope to see you there. For this Blog Hop, I'll be showcasing a "Autum wreath", autum by far is my favorite season, the colors and just beautiful. a wile back found this Martha Stewart kit to make one, so today was a nice occasion to pull it out and have it ready!

The kit includes:

- 11.5 IN chipboard wreath form

- 70 assorted leaves with wire stems

- 6 IN ribbon for hanging

- florist tape

Insgtructions:

1) Make leaf clusters by gathering three diferent leaves and twisting their wire stems together.

2) Place a leaf cluster on the top of the wreath form and wrap florist's tape araund the steams and form.

3) While winding the florist's tape, strech it slightly to make it adhere.

4) Add slightly overlaping leaf clusters, working your way around the wreath form until it is completely covered.

5) Hang wreath with the decorative ribbon.

hope you had enjoyed the project, even if its a kit this is easy to recreate, using many of the liaf die cuts that many companies have.

And well about holidays and traditions, we enjoy family dinner on Christmas eve,and on the morning we exchange presents. gradma is inchage of the food prep, and i usualy bake something my specialty is cheesscake :D

CardSwaps World Cardmaking Day Blog Hop!

There is a mini crop going on at CardSwaps and you are invited to play. Each member on the blog hop received a challenge in advance to showcase and entice you to participate!

The challenge from the mini crop I am showcasing is: "Just a Note"!! and in this challenge you will have to create a 3x3 note card, they are a simple, easy and fast ways to make a quick note for any occasion.

Here is what I came up with:

For this card I used:

- Recollection brand cardstock as the base, in color light green (3x6 strip score at 3 inch)

- DVWV patterned paper from the Holiday Stack (2inch 3/4 square)

- Recollection brand cardstock for the punched border in white (2 inch 3/4 by 1inch)

- RoyalLangnickel Rub-On "Ice Skaters with glitter"

Card making has become really special to me, I have always been a crafty person, and in a simple way i use to make hand made cards for family and friends as a little girl. When i moved to USA, my cousin took me to a scrapbook crop, and my world was opened to SO many amazing things, techniques, tools. i love to scrapbook but it never gave me the instant satisfaction of a finished project, as a card did. i stumble to the Card Maker card swaps message board and at the time they were having a crop and i just jump right in with the challenges and i LOVE it ever since. It gave a bunch of new friend, the most friendly ladies, they welcomed me and from them i have learned sooo much.

This week Elaine presented us quite the challege to dust up any craft item the we bought but neglected to use. well couple of months ago i got this retired SU stamp, i love it as soon as i saw it but then i thought that i was to beg for cards, but still got it, and here is it, i actualy cut out some of it it had more leafs but as i said, i was toooooo big for the card, but this way i thing ill be using it much more! i color it with my water colors, my grandparets were amaizes by this card.

This card was made for a Sketch Challenge (my first one) on a card makers swap crop. it was the fost sketch i had pulled out of my own. i'm happy that it came out preatty cool! and as always i used my favorite flower, the cherry blossom or SAKURA's .

Using the step technique, i made this card, and at the momento all i could think off was a nice fence, a bird and their little house! i sent this for my sister bday, and she love its as she had aske for a card with a WOW factor and she display it in her office desk ! :) soo cool hum?

All the way in May, this was the fist Holiday card i made, this stamp image was soooo hard to stamp, for some reason on the 5th time i manage to get most of the image on, but you would know that the sentimet is hiding some part of the imperfection were part of the stamp didnt transfer... hihihi shuuuu its a secret! :)

Have you ever used any unconvetional mediums on your stamping??? ok lets think outside of the box, and WAY outside of it, the bird is stamped with sweet condenced milk, yep you read right, i used a clear stamp (easy to wash the condenced milk off) with a brush aplied a thin layer of the condenced milk, stamp it, put a little bit of emposing powder to the side of the wings, and the heat embosed it until you get the burnt look, wile doing it the most amaizing sweet smell!!! but you CANT eat your card.... just the left over condenced milk. :)

This card was made as part of one of the challenges for the May crop at Card Makers swaps, this was one of my favorite ones, it has one of my favorites color combos (pink/black) and monkeys!!! the technique used was a double pocket card, and each pocket i added a bookmark.

From this week challenge, Margaret gave the tri fold technique to try, at first i got intimidated by it, i couldnt figure it out, but i made it work! i some how have lost my circle puch, and still cant find it on my "crap room" so i had to free-hand cut it, i draw the circle and with a crafting knife cut out. this color combo, is my second favorite.

December arrive and a new make it any way you want swap came, but with a twist, this month wont be a card, but an altered project. i fould the little notebook in Target and liked the designe and color, so i based my decoration that way, and beside, those are my favorites colors so how i could have resisted. for the buterfly i used it from a Martha Stewart glitter kit i got in Big Lots, and made the glitter match with the teal and black color combo. on the insidem the clip was aldo made from the teal foil paper i had. and the name with glitter letter sticked i had.

On November's Make it any way you want swap on the card maker message board, my partner for this month was Margaret, so i know she like dragonflies, so i made the card with a Martha Stewart paper pack i got on special in Michaels, and the dragonfly sticker was from K&K, the sentimet was from a Rub-on sheet i had but dont know from who... jajaja i must have trashed the wrapping.

hello!! i have just completed one more swap at CMMB, i had to do 6 gift card holders, it could be any occasion, and since i got new dies, i used them and came up with a cool idea. the front of the gift card holder is just a cup of steaming coffee, and on the inside it reads Bean thinking of you, and has some decorating coffee grains!

Hi friends!! well as some might know i'm a huge twilight fan, the books are awesome!!! and the movies are getting better!!! i'm such a Team Vampire! (i just cant chose one!) so i made this bookmark to send as a gift to one hostes at the CardMaker MB, it was for the Halloween swap, as i know Jenelle also is a fan.

the Edward stamp is from "the greeting farm" stamps, i changed a little bit his clothing, they have also come up with new stamps looking as Jasper , Jacob and Alice! i cant wait to get them!!!!

Hi!!! here is a sample of the cards i made for the flower pot swap at CMMB, we were to make 6 cards. i used brown CS for the flower pot, then i used color ribbon to wrap around the flowers and greenery was punch out with some of my sizzix dies!

Hi!! for the make it any way you want - September, i was partnered with Golda, i love her cards! i tried to make one different card for her, so i did Glitter!!! i found this cute card kit with glitter from Martha steward, i liked it lot it came with 5 glitter bottles and the butterfly cut outs. then with a black CS i embossed it and stamped the saying on white.

and i also put a little close-up of the butterfly.

hello!!! today i finished my set of cards for Lora's Technique swap at cardMaker's, i chose Quilling as my Technique. it takes time and thinking, i usually cut my own strips of paper, as i see the are really expensive at craft stores. cutting my strip allows me to use the exact same shade or color im using on my card. i do have the rolling tool, but when i first started i used a tooth pick that i cut at the tip to allow to wrap the paper strip. hope you like it!! ^o~

this set of cards was made for Terrie's Crayola color swap at CMMB , you had to create a card based on the colors of the crayola box, we made 8 cards, one of each colo, red, brown, black, blue, green, yellow, orage and purple.

Hello! this is the card i sent Angelina (my June partner) for the "Make it any way you want" swap at the CardMaker MB. For the flower, i didn't have a stamp or die for the petals, so i hand drew them then cut them out, the butterfly is from a stamp set i have from Local King Rubber Stamp. and the little squares as the leaf i used a cuttlebug die.
